In the 2017 La Serna High School boys season Coach Mo lead her team to an amazing 30-4 record. An undefeated league record of 10-0 and the first ever CIF Volleyball Championship in school history. After completing an outstanding season she was awarded the 2017 All Area Coach of the Year along with the 2017 CIF Division Coach of the Year!

In 2015, Moe Gayton received the honor of Coach of the Year for the tri-city area and lead her girls volleyball team to an astounding 24-6 record overall. Going 10-0 in league made her team the League Champion for the fifth year in a row. 2017 will mark her 6th year as head coach of the girls program and her 5th year as the head coach of the boys program. Both programs have shown an amazing improvement since she has taken over, not only in producing wins but in building a camaraderie that encompasses all levels of frosh, junior varsity and varsity. Because of the team’s success, the Lancers have had multiple players recognized on the All-League, All-Area and All-CIF stage. This past year, the Lancer captain was voted So-Cal Fan Favorite after receiving Player of the Year honors. The two programs have been ranked in CIF standing for the last few seasons consistently with the girls reaching as high as third and the boys climbing in the past few years to fifth. In her years thus far at La Serna, the girls programs has been highly successful leaving Gayton with an amazing 101-31 record including a 50-0 record in league in her last 5 years. She has helped players go on to attend colleges of all skill levels including: University of Nevada Las Vegas, California State Northridge, California State San Bernardino, Cal State Los Angeles, Notre Dame College (OH), Azusa Pacific University, Hope Internatonal University, Westmont College, Chapman University, Lasell College (MA), Fullerton College, Cerritos College, Mt. Sac College, Long Beach City College, Rio Hondo College and many more.  


Previous high school coaching experience includes: La Serna HS (boys jv 2004-2007, girls varsity asst. 2004-2008), Santa Fe HS (girls varsity asst. 2008/2009), Cypress HS (jv boys, 2010), La Mirada HS (boys varsity asst., 2011), and  Club experience includes: Roots VBC (2008-2010) and Club Green (2010-2016). She started Campfire VBC in 2016. 

In high school Gayton was a four year varsity letterman in volleyball and basketball at La Serna. For her league championship basketball team she was shooting guard who was honored her freshman year with All-League honorable mention honors, sophomore year with All-League 2nd team honors and junior/senior year with All-League 1st Team Honors, All Area Honors and was voted her team’s Best Defensive Player. In volleyball she was a starting setter all four years and a captain her junior and senior seasons. She lead her team to 3 league championships and many battles throughout CIF playoffs. In her freshman year she helped her league championship team to the Quarterfinals, made the All-League 2nd Team and was voted Rookie of the Year. Sophomore year was just as successful with again reaching the quarterfinals, making the All- League 2nd team and earning her team’s Coach's Award. Junior year they again won league and she earned All-League 1st Team Honors. Senior year she was recognized as a 1st Team All League player, 1st Team All-Area, team captain and team MVP. She decided to play at the Junior College level at Cerritos College in Norwalk, where she played as a freshman as a setter in 2003. After taking a break from school and spending time coaching she decided to try school and volleyball again in 2009 at age 24. As a sophomore at Cerritos College she was a starting setter and captain, receiving All-Conference 1st Team Honors and the Team MVP Award. She was also nominated to the All So-Cal Regional Team which put her on the Top 24 list for best community college players in So-Cal. She received a scholarship to attend Hope International University where she majored in Kinesiology. She was again a setter and captain who lead her team in assists. As the oldest on the court she lead her young team to first ever wins over Concordia, Point Loma and Biola.​
